DINNER & LEARN: Update on Prostate Cancer Screening

The US Preventative Services Task Force recently revised its guidelines on prostate specific antigen (PSA) screening. It recommended that healthy men forgo the procedure, regardless of their age. However, studies have found that regular PSA screenings, combined with prostate MRI and physical exams, reduces the number of benign biopsies performed on patients. Dinner will be graciously provided by Rolling Oaks Radiology Thousand Oaks.

Though few radiology centers provide prostate MRIs, RadNet has been an early adopter. Our centers currently perform more than 250 a month – over 3000 every year. This allows our physicians to stage cancers more accurately and recommend the most appropriate treatments for patients. Our goal is to expand our prostrate program throughout southern California, so men who are candidates for this exam can receive one at a convenient location, close to home.

Robert Princenthal, M.D., is a board-certified radiologist with more than 25 years of high quality expertise in diagnostic medical imaging. He is president and founding partner of Rolling Oaks Radiology, a network of outpatient imaging centers in Ventura County, California. Dr. Princenthal also serves as the medical co-director for RadNet’s Prostate MRI Program.
